Gan\u00f3 en 2009 el premio R\u00f3mulo Gallegos con su novela \u2018El Pa\u00eds de la Canela\u2019, y ha escrito otras novelas como \u2018Urs\u00faa\u2019 (2005), y \u2018La Serpiente sin ojos\u2019 (2012).<\/p>\n<p>Recibi\u00f3 el primer Premio Nacional de Poes\u00eda del Instituto Colombiano de Cultura en 1992.
